She’s Here!

My  sweet granddaughter arrived yesterday afternoon at 3:40, after nearly 17 hours of labour. She was 8lbs 6oz, and 19.5 inches long.  Mom and baby are doing great. Dad is in love, and keeps marvelling at baby’s fingers and toes.
We are all beyond happy!

No Baby Yet……

We are still waiting anxiously for the arrival of my granddaughter.  Her poor mom is ready to go anytime, although technically the due date isn’t until this coming Sunday(21st). I’ll keep you posted!

On the crafting front, when my daughter Hillary was home a few weeks ago, she made herself a pillow! This is quite an accomplishment for her, because she is not the most avid seamstress. Sewing is just not her thing.  She had seen the Petal Pillow tutorial by Allison Harris at Cluck Cluck Sew. (which is a fabulous tutorial by the way) After some intense digging and searching through my (cough) considerable stash, she opted to use an almost burlap colour cotton for the pillow slip itself.  She bought some denim blue felt for the petals, and started right away. I’m so proud of her because she did the whole thing herself, despite never having followed any type of pattern (or tutorial) or used a sewing machine  in her life. It looked so funny seeing her sitting there at my machine, so intent on her project. It was so nice to spend that time together, her working on her pillow, and me working on my own project.  (which I will post later) So without further ado, I give you Hillary’s pillow.

Didn’t she do a great job?  It matches my living room  sofa perfectly!  Unfortunately, she took it home with her, lol.  She plans on making another one to match next time she is home.
Thanks for reading, and have a great day!

PSST……..Is anybody there?

Hello!  Long time no see!  How is everyone? I’m embarrassed to say that it has taken me this long to figure out certain issues I’ve had with blogger. Then, Google had to join in the fun and switch everything around on me!  My blog disappeared from my Dashboard into the great unknown.  It seemed that every road I went down to find a solution, only led to a longer bumpier road!  But, I’m happy to say that I finally have everything up and running, and hope to catch up on my blogging.
My summer has been busy, sewing crafting and fun times with family. My baby granddaughter is due to be born any day now, and I couldn’t be more excited! In my next few posts I will show you some of the things I have been working on for her.
For this post I’m going to go back to June, and show you the two dresses I made my niece for her birthday.

These little dresses are so super simple to make, that they have become my go-to gift idea for the little girls in my life. I make the skirts extra full for that twirlability factor that is oh so important to little girls. The yoyo flowers on the yellow dress are sewn in place. The flower on the purple dress is actually a pin, so she can wear it on other outfits too. I usually make matching belts for these dresses, but this particular niece doesn’t like  them. All in all I’m very happy with the way they turned out. Just the thing for the scorching heat we’ve had this summer.
Before I go, I have one more thing to show you. Meet Beau.

He has quickly become a big part of the family in the six weeks we have had him. I wondered how he would fit in with our two big dogs, but there have been no problems at all. In fact, Abby has adopted him. When he first arrived he was tiny, and Abby groomed him and tried to carry him around in her month. It was so heart warming to see, I just wish I had gotten pictures!
Now they are pretty much inseparable.
