Yo-Yo's and Candy

I finally decided. I'm going to open an Etsy Shop! I have been wavering for weeks now, but at the urging of my very good friend Amanda, from The Modern Brady Bunch Family Blog, and various members of my family, I'm ready to do it. I'm going to take the next week or so to sew up some stock, and then I should be ready to go! I've made a few things already, and I have lots more in the works. I'm not going to stick to any particular patterns, just make whatever strikes my fancy. I do know that the majority of my items will be for infants and children, sizes 6mos, to size 6x. Here are a few of the things I've made so far.

I plan to make little skirts to match the tops.
And of course, this will be in my shop too.

I think I'm going to call my shop Yo-Yo's and Candy, but we'll see. I want something cute, that reflects my product. I plan to make from scratch, and refashion some items. Overall I'm just hoping to have fun. I just hope I can sell something!    Anne

I'm sooo embarassed........

I feel just awful! The lovely Rachel over at sewambitious gave me the Beautiful blogger award last week,  and I haven't thanked her properly yet, or posted about it! So, thank you, thank you, thank you Rachel! You were so sweet to think of me! If any of you haven't checked out sewambitious yet, you really should do it now. Go on, I'll wait........   Isn't she great? She's only been sewing for a few months, and is doing a fantastic job!
Here is my wonderful award!

I don't know if I deserve it, but I'm soo grateful anyway! Now I have to list ten things about myself.

- I am addicted to reading crafty blogs,I follow so many that I've lost count! But even though it takes awhile, I do get around to reading them all!
- My favorite drink of all time is tea. My first cup of hot tea in the morning is pure bliss.
-I've always got sewing on my mind!
-I love finding new recipes
-I love spending time with my family
-I'm always saying I want to loose weight. But I never do anything about it!  :)
-I can't stand 'false friends'
-I have a hard time saying 'NO' to friends and family
-I love to entertain, but don't do it often enough
-my dogs are my 'babies'

Now, to pass it on to some other wonderful bloggers. This is so difficult, because there are so many great blogs, I wish I could give it to everyone!

- Amanda, at thebradybunchfamilyblog
-Carolyn at handmadebycarolyn
-Ms Santa at santasgiftshoppe
-Antmee at antmee
-Ela at lifeinmypjs

Congratulations ladies! I'll send you an email to let you know.

And of course, thanks again Rachel!

More Cuteness!

Our little guests are leaving this evening, after a two day visit. They are going back to the veterinarian who has been away. In a few weeks, they will be moving to a wildlife rehabilitation center, before being released into the wild. My daughter has been feeding them every three hours, and they learned quickly that when she came into view, it was dinner time! The four of them clamor at the wire door, crying to be fed. Because it was hard to tell them apart, and to remember which one had eaten, she painted one nail on each baby with a different colour nail polish.
They know exactly what to do. They hold on with their little hands.
And of course two of her brothers had too join the fun.
There were only two sad little faces.

They couldn't understand why they couldn't play too!                   Anne

Victoria Day

Happy Victoria Day everyone! I hope everyone in Canada had a wonderful long weekend. Today the weather was just perfect. Sunny and hot with a nice breeze. We sat out on the deck under our umbrella for an hour or so, visiting with my dad. So nice to just relax with family. We did have other visitors today. These ones are staying until Wednesday evening. This is what happens when you encourage your daughter to be a veterinarian!
Baby Raccoons!

Unfortunately the pics turned out dark and a little fuzzy. I will get better ones tomorrow while she is feeding them. I must have looked a sight, I had to crawl half in the dog crate to take these pics. I'm sure the neighbours were impressed. I was on the front porch! My daughter is caring for them for two days, while the vet who usually has them is out of town. There are four of them, and  they need to be fed with a syringe every three hours.  We have to wear leather gloves to feed them, they have very sharp claws and like to hold on while you feed them.  My poor dogs can't understand why they can't play with them! It will be a very interesting couple of days!

Remember when I showed you this picture?

I finally got around to working on it.

Sometimes you just want to have ruffles!

It looks a little crooked on the hanger, but it isn't. The bum ruffles aren't quite as straight as I intended, but all in all, I'm pretty pleased with it. I have to finish the back bodice buttons and buttonholes, but other than that, it is finished. Now all I have to do is find someone it fits!     Anne

I won something!

I'm so excited! I won a fabric covered notebook! Handmade by Teresa at affectioknit!  It will be perfect to keep in my purse.

I'm not sure which one is for me, but that doesn't matter. They are all wonderful! It isn't just winning a prize that is so much fun, but making friends with other bloggers! Thanks so much Teresa! I'll be waiting by my mailbox!
